30-60% of adults suffer from vein diseases and the incidence increases with age.
Probably, there are multiple factors, which contribute to vein diseases, heredity being the most important.
Symptoms
Leg pain, muscle fatigue and soreness, throbbing and swelling, are often symptoms of vein problems. The varicose veins appear like blue ropes under the skin.
At times the affected veins appear like small blue or red lines on the skin. Sometimes these look like spiders within the skin.
This leads to symptoms:
- Engorged Varicose veins
- Leg fatigue, pain and burning sensation
- Lower leg and ankle swelling
- Muscle cramping; specially at night
- “Heavy” feeling in legs
- Discoloration
- Open wound “sore”
Over time, if untreated, vein diseases may result in changes of the skin color, ulcers, bleeding, swelling and blood clots.
Venous insufficiency and reflux
The major factor that produces vein diseases is venous insufficiency and reflux. Under normal conditions, blood in the legs always flows upstream towards the heart. When veins or their valves are diseased, they allow blood with its accompanying high pressure, to reflux back into the legs. This increased amount of blood causes the symptoms of pain, soreness, aching, etc. The modern solution is to interrupt the site of reflux and direct the blood to healthy veins.

Laser ablation of the saphenous vein
Under normal conditions, when you walk, the muscles in the legs contract, which pump the blood against gravity in the direction of the heart. When the valves of the leg veins leak, because of scaring or other diseases, then the blood travels backward toward the feet and fills superficial veins normally absent or non-visible, a process called “REFLUX”. Reflux can happen in the superficial venous system named the “Saphenous veins” or in the deep system, which is a more serious problem.
- Laser ablation is a minimally invasive procedure for the treatment venous reflux involving the “Saphenous vein”, a condition that develops when valves that usually keep blood flowing out of your legs become damaged or diseased, Allowing backward flow of blood (leaking).
The Laser ablation procedure treats reflux by closing the “Saphenous” vein through a non-surgical method: Under local anesthesia, a thin Laser fiber is inserted into the vein through a very tiny needle puncture using the guidance of color duplex ultrasound. The fiber tip delivers Laser energy to the vein wall, causing it to heat, collapse, and seal shut. Once the diseased vein is closed, other Deep veins take over and empty blood from your legs causing lower pressure and closure of the varicose veins directly draining into the now ablated “Saphenous vein”.
The Laser ablation procedure is a less painful and less invasive alternative to surgically removing (stripping) the troublesome vein from your leg, with a shorter recovery period than with vein stripping.
The advantages of laser ablation over vein stripping are many:
- Relief of symptoms: the laser ablation procedure works by closing the diseased vein using laser energy. Once other healthy veins take over, your symptoms should improve noticeably and quickly.
- No down time No surgery and No hospital stay: You'll be in and out in 2-3 hours and may require only local anesthesia to numb the treatment area.
- Short recovery: You should be able to resume your normal activities within 1-2 days
- Good cosmetic outcome - Patients report minimal to no scarring, bruising or swelling following the laser ablation procedure.
EVLT revolutionary laser ablation treatment is covered by insurance :
After our initial evaluation, we will determine whether the symptoms, the underlying problem and the proposed treatment are “medically necessary” or cosmetic in nature.
If your condition is considered “medically necessary”, the treatment is covered by most insurances and Medicare. A knowledgeable staff member will discuss the reimbursement issues and provide you with a detailed estimate of charges.
Payment plans
For your convenience we accept personal checks, cash, MasterCard, VISA, American Express, and Discover Card. We be able to assist you with financing the treatment using interest free carecredit*.

Spider Veins

Spider veins are the most superficial manifestation of vein diseases. Often, each spider vein has a feeding vein, unseen, which transmits higher than normal pressures, and makes the visible. The feeding vein must be interrupted to treat the cause of the spider vein.
Sclerotherapy
used to inject the vein, causing irritation and closure. There is little discomfort associated with the injection. Several treatments may be needed over the course of several weeks. Traditional, Ultrasound guided, and Foam Sclerotherapy are used to achieve maximum benefit.

It is an injection treatment used to eliminate "spider" veins and small to medium-size varicose veins. A solution is injected into the problem vein with a very fine needle. The vein wall becomes irritated. Subsequent application of external compression with dressings and prescription-gradient compression hose seals the vein wall together. The body breaks down the damaged vein and absorbs it Sclerotherapy remains the mainstay of eliminating spider veins and certain varicose veins. A tiny needle is, ultimately eliminating the problem vein. No pre-treatment patient preparation is needed and most patients describe minimal discomfort. After treatment patients resume normal activities, but are asked to avoid prolonged sitting and standing for 3 days and heavy exercise (weight lifting, running and high impact aerobics) for two weeks. Walking is encouraged after the treatments. Prescription-gradient compression hose are worn for 9 days after each treatment.

Currently utilizes laser/light therapy source. Laser light sources are the latest technologies in the treatment of facial flushing and vascular birthmarks. This improved technology is effective in eliminating problem vascular lesions without damaging the surrounding skin. Laser/light therapy may be an appropriate option for treatment of "spider" veins involving the face, trunk and legs and vascular birthmarks such as hemangiomas and port-wine stains. Laser/light therapy is most effective when treating people with a "fair" complexion. Successful treatment of facial lesions may be accomplished with as little as one treatment but usually requires two to three treatments. Leg veins usually require multiple treatments. The number of treatments needed to successfully treat vascular birthmarks varies depending on their size and density but usually requires multiple treatments. The treatment is tolerated by most people with minimal discomfort. Moderate to significant redness and swelling of the area treated is expected and usually resolves in 3 to 10 days depending on the amount of swelling and redness. Patient preparation requires the area being treated be without sun exposure or the use of sunless tanning products for four weeks before and after each treatment. Make-up may be applied after facial redness and swelling has subsided.
